Overview

Karna is seeking a Research Analyst who enjoys a fast-paced environment and has substantial experience in qualitative and quantitative research, planning, analysis, and reporting, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in developing, defining, and making recommendations on how to improve healthcare quality, access and safety to beneficiaries of one of the nation’s leading federal agencies.

This full time position is located in Northern Virginia and will be filled to support a government contract. The qualified candidate will provide high quality scientific research and technical support by developing reports, presentations, and participating in national meetings in support of set priorities and programmatic goals and will be responsible for leading the implementation of a wide array of internal and external reports on health issues affecting public health within a targeted population. This position will provide strategic support, scientific research, literature reviews, development of informational reports, presentations, evidence based recommendations, suggestions and briefings to senior leadership on the agency’s taskings on health information.

Specifically, this position will provide support in the areas qualitative and quantitative research, synthesis and reporting of findings, and other related projects.  The candidate must be open to domestic CONUS travel, with the potential for multiple trips per year.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and analysis
  • Execute work as provided by senior leadership to support the mission of the agency 
  • Provide senior level consultation to leadership, and subordinate staff
  • Gather and analyze relevant data for the development of white papers, reports, etc. 
  • Translate scientific information into easy-to-understand language for non-scientific audiences.
  • Respond to inquiries or information requests from headquarters and the field and provide recommendations and guidance
  • Produce scientifically sound technical materials by reviewing, editing and proofreading documents through an established clearance protocol
  • Review and update internal and external content on behalf of the agency
  • Attend meetings and liaise with senior government personnel and other stakeholders
  • Domestic travel may be required.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Masters’ degree in Public Health, with a minimum of 6 years of experience.
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • 5+ years of experience analyzing data preferably within the public health, including qualitative and quantitative analysis 
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in working with senior federal government officials in a professional capacity
  • Experience developing presentations/slide sets and delivering presentations 
  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders including senior leadership, subject matter experts and other internal and external partners
  • Ability to communicate effective both orally and in writing in English.
  • Skill in written and oral communications sufficient to prepare and present findings and recommendations, paying attention to detail with minimal need for revisions
  • Ability to multi-task effectively without sacrifice to quality

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, of 8 years of experience.
  • Previous experience in the public health or healthcare arena 
  • Strong understanding of current and priority health care issues and policies
  • Experience leading a team or leading a collaborative effort on behalf of a team or organization or working as an independent contributor in a highly visible mission
  • Experience with translating scientific information into easy-to-understand language for non-scientific audiences and vice versa
  • Experience in working in a very formal and exclusive setting requiring a highly professional demeanor 
  • Proficient in general computer office software applications such as SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Must be able to work on client site during the hours of 8am to 5pm (Mon-Fri)
