Overview

Karna is seeking a high-energy senior-level Scientific Research Analyst who enjoys a fast-paced environment and has substantial experience in qualitative and quantitative research, planning, execution, management, analysis, and reporting, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in developing, defining, and making recommendations on how to improve healthcare quality, access and safety to beneficiaries of one of the nation’s leading federal agencies.

Specifically, this position will provide support in the areas of planning, materials development and dissemination, creative direction, qualitative and quantitative research and analysis, synthesis and reporting of findings, administrative program management and direction, communications, and other related projects.  The candidate must be open to domestic CONUS travel, with the potential for multiple trips per year.




Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic program planning and management
  • Develop executive communications including leadership presentations, scripts, and speeches
  • Provide and direct support for logistics of routine, annual and monthly meetings
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to guide team operations and processes
  • Track program activities and deliverables using Excel spreadsheets or other tools as needed
  • Execute work as provided by senior leadership to support the mission of the agency 
  • Provide senior level consultation to leadership, and subordinate staff
  • Gather and analyze relevant data for the development of white papers, reports, etc. 
  • Translate scientific information into easy-to-understand language for non-scientific audiences.
  • Respond to inquiries or information requests from headquarters and the field and provide recommendations and guidance
  • Produce scientifically sound technical materials by reviewing, editing and proofreading documents through an established clearance protocol
  • Review and update internal and external content on behalf of the agency
  • Attend meetings and liaise with senior government personnel and other stakeholders
  • Domestic travel may be required.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Masters’ degree in Public Health, with a minimum of 7 years of experience.
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • 6 years of experience analyzing data preferably within the public health or defense arena, including qualitative and quantitative analysis 
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in working with senior federal government officials in a professional capacity
  • Experience developing presentations/slide sets and delivering presentations 
  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders including senior leadership, subject matter experts and other internal and external partners
  • Skill in written and oral communications sufficient to prepare and present findings and recommendations, paying attention to detail with minimal need for revisions
  • Strong MS Office skills to include Word, PowerPoint, and Excel 
  • Ability to multi-task effectively without sacrifice to quality
  • Strong critical and creative thinker 
  • An energetic, self-driven, conscientious and organized team player 


Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Previous experience working in the area of public health or healthcare
  • Strong understanding of current and priority health care issues and policies
  • Experience leading a team or leading a collaborative effort on behalf of a team or organization or working as an independent contributor in a highly visible mission
  • Experience with translating scientific information into easy-to-understand language for non-scientific audiences and vice versa
  • Experience in working in a very formal and exclusive setting requiring a highly professional demeanor
