Overview

Karna is seeking a Data Analyst for ongoing work with a public health office within the Department of Defense in Alexandria, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and developing a large database of health information to prepare for analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Provides data management, reporting and analysis support to investigators using SPSS, R, SAS, and other statistical packages.
  • Evaluates current data systems and data collection processes to support surveillance and research activities
  • Prepares and maps out electronic databases
  • Writes SQL codes to design and implement database structure
  • Collects and imports data from a variety of sources into the database.
  • Oversees and manages the database
  • Writes code to extract record level and aggregate data from the database and prepares the data for delivery to the customer
  • Maintains database dictionaries
  • Develops standards and procedures for data integration
  • Develops data validation procedures
  • Performs and documents procedures for data preparation including data cleaning, transformation and analysis
  • Assesses data quality including completeness, accuracy, and adequacy of data
  • Continues maintaining, updating, and upgrading the system
  • Works closely with data analysts to achieve all of the above

Qualifications

  • Master's degree, preferably in a quantitative discipline or BS with equivalent experience  in lieu of degree
  • Minimum 2-4 years' related experience 
  • Experience in design or development of enterprise data solutions, applications, and integrations
  • In-depth knowledge of hardware and software for database creation and management
  • Experience in SQL Server, MS Access and other database management tools
  • Experience in data analysis and presentation using business-standard software such as SAS, SPSS, Tableau or R
  • Data analytics and data visualization experience in developing reporting solutions directly from databases
  • Experience with health data strongly preferred
  • Experience complying with privacy standards related to the use of PHI/PII
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • CAC or PIV-ready and able to obtain and maintain Confidential-level clearance
