  • Overview

    Karna, LLC is looking for a Health Informatics / Interface Specialist to support our client in Hyattsville, MD. Position requires the ability to document and implement EHR and other HIT systems, oversee the extraction of data from these systems, transmission of data from hospitals to specific federal systems, and transmission of the sampled discharges from those systems to abstractors and hospitals. Candidate must be innovative and highly skilled. 

    Responsibilities

     

     

    • Support the development of an implementation guide for standards that will facilitate electronic data exchange between clinical information systems and federal systems
    • Design a pilot test to collect hospital data electronically, transmit them,sample discharges with a specific condition from UBs, and electronically transmit the selected discharges to abstractors and hospitals
    • Lead the pilot test, in collaboration in up to 9 hospitals, including helping to arrange hospitals' participation, identifying the structure of the hospitals' relevant systems, identifying options for electronic transmission and hospitals' preferences, and arranging with the hospitals for electronic transmission to and from federal systems
    • Participate in analyzing the results of the pilot test, including identifying the most promising option(s) for data transmission
    • Design methods to transmit data electronically from a new sample of about 500 hospitals


    Qualifications

    • BS required, MS preferred in a quantitative or clinical discipline
    • 7-10 years of working experience in HIT
    • Familiarity with CDA CCD
    • Must be HL7 experienced
    • Savvy with EHR
    • SAS or SQL experience required 
    • Clinical background a plus 
    • Must be able to obtain a security clearance
