  • Overview

    Karna, LLC is seeking a Case Management Associate for an HHS / NIOSH project supporting members of the World Trade Center Health Program. The successful candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team in scheduling follow-up appointments, obtaining medical records, and maintaining clear and professional communication with WTCHP Centers of Excellence (CCE) and the provider community. The Case Management Associate provides operational assistance to the Case Management department and works closely with the RN Case Manager Leads and Case Managers.



    The ideal candidate for this role exemplifies courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, and/or medical center employees, case management staff and the provider community. The Case management associate needs to be organized, able to communicate effectively and work well on a multidisciplinary team. In addition, the case management associate should be aware of privacy laws and understand the need to maintain patient confidentiality.


    • Provides routine office and administrative support to department staff, as appropriately delegated.
    • Exchanges information on clinical matters, schedules appointments, assists with generating authorizations.
    • Provides computer support to professional staff to include maintenance of database, data entry, and assisting in distribution of reports.
    • Assists with timely and accurate authorizations processes with the Clinical Centers of Excellence and the provider community.
    • Contacts community agencies to gather information and coordinate efforts.
    • Communicates with Physician office staff to obtain appointments and clinical documentation.
    • Documents assistance in Case Management system.
    • Collaborates with the RN Case Manager to develop a plan of care for discharging the patient from case management.


    • High School Diploma/ Equivalent /College preferred.
    • Three (3) years of health care related work experience
    • Oncology and / or complex case management experience preferred.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • MS Office experience required, medical software a plus. 
    • Ability to type, organize and manage detailed data with attention to detail.
    • Ability to acquire good working knowledge of program-specific computer applications.
    • Good problem-solving skills, self-directed, and able to complete required assigned work independently.
    • Strong time management skills. 
    • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with individuals in diverse professional and patient groups.
    • Possess knowledge and skills to work effectively with patients and their families.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain required clearance.
