  • Overview

    Karna is seeking a Data Analyst to provide high level expertise in applicable process evaluation and program improvement to collect, abstract, code, analyze, or interpret interview, focus group, and survey data. The candidate will be responsible for developing and applying analytic methodologies and principles, leading the application of analytic techniques, and helping to define project objectives and strategic direction.

    *This position is contingent upon contract award*


    • Provide data management, analysis, and reporting support using SPSS, SAS, and/or other statistical packages.
    • Develop an instrument for collecting recipient satisfaction with technical assistance (TA) being provided.
    • Knowledge of web-based survey development in Survey Gizmo or similar tools such as Qualtrics, REDCap, etc.
    • Identify a mechanism to collect and analyze data using the recipient satisfaction instrument developed above.
    • Using independent judgment and discretion, apply standard and non-standard quantitative and qualitative methods and techniques on data associated with interviews and surveys capturing recipient satisfaction with TA.
    • Interpret the results of quantitative and qualitative analysis to improve the effectiveness of the programmatic and administrative operations.
    • Manage/merge data from multiple sources, examine data for trends/themes, and generate reports in various formats.
    • Author research summaries and reports containing actionable recommendations.
    • Serve as an organizational subject matter expert on data related issues to assist users in meeting their needs.
    • Review project reports and findings. Review applications, data sets and models for anomalies to ensure accuracy.
    • Interpret and display data in a clear and concise manner.
    • Present key findings and recommendations for organizational improvement in written and oral formats. Written format will include but not be limited to PowerPoint presentation with (as appropriate) charts, graphs, and photos, handouts, executive summary, and detailed report.
    • Provide consultation and technical assistance for organizational improvement, including but not limited to developing and implementing a data collection plan, compiling data from publicly available datasets, or developing and implementing strategies to promote data integration across public health constituencies and/or nongovernmental system components.




    • Minimum BS, with Master's degree preferred in a quantitative discipline (such as computer science, mathematics, physics, or statistics).
    • Five (5) + years of relevant experience, of which approximately three (3) years must be specialized in the areas of public health promotion and prevention utilizing public and private partnerships.
    • Experience with data related to violence prevention (i.e., child abuse and neglect, youth violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, or elder abuse) preferred. 
    • Proven experience in SAS, SPSS, and/or R.
    • Must possess excellent analytical skills and be capable of breaking down complex issues into simplified problem statements and laying out objective approaches to identify and compare the merits of competing solutions.
    • Effective oral and written communications skills, capable of translating and presenting complex technical and project management concepts to management and customers, through presentations and other written formats.
    • Knowledge of analytical and evaluative techniques to identify, consider and resolve issues or problems.
    • Well-versed in Microsoft Office products.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail,and problem-solving abilities.
    • Previous CDC/Public Health experience is preferred. 
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.
