  • Overview

    Karna is seeking an experienced Evaluation Specialist to support administration of client processes. He or she will help coordinate and support project and program evaluations, programmatic needs assessments, strategic planning, training and technical assistance, perform analyses, and monitoring and evaluations across a wide variety of domains, focusing on violence prevention (VP) efforts.

    Responsibilities

    • Align program evaluations to the mission and priorities of the agencies.
    • Collaborate with staff in program areas to determine outcome measures, define, and implement evaluation methodologies, and draft recommendations.
    • Develop evaluation plans, procedures, and methodology in order to measure the effectiveness of programs, initiatives, and policies within the CDC.
    • Coordinate assessments of training and technical assessment needs for VP initiatives.
    • Work effectively in assisting with conducting visioning and ideation sessions to develop, refine, or evolve project/program goals, activities, and initiatives.
    • Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to assess program objectives, goals, and outcomes.
    • Perform data analyses including data entry, data management, statistical analysis, and qualitative coding.
    • Uses appropriate software such as SPSS, SAS, STATA, and NVivo for analyzing data.
    • Communicate results of program evaluation, both orally and in writing, to program coordinators, organizational leadership, and outside stakeholders as necessary in a manner that is clear and accessible.
    • Prepare reports and briefings for broad and diverse audiences.
    • Remain abreast of new developments in the field of evaluation that may affect program operations; and provide guidance and assists in the development of advance plans to ensure timely introduction of new and/or revised procedures, techniques, or operational concepts.

    Qualifications

    • BA/BS required, Master's preferred in public health, health policy, or social science
    • Minimum 2-3 years or related experience
    • Experience with data analysis and visualization software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, NVivo, REDCap)
    • Proficiency with MS Office 
    • Experience conducting evaluation using qualitative and quantitative methods
    • Experience with data collection, interpretation and analysis, including reporting
    • Experience balancing multiple projects with strong attention to detail, organization, and efficient time management
    • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate Security Clearance 
    • Prioritizes time and projects appropriately.
    • Able to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles.
    • Accurately scopes out length and difficulty of tasks and projects; sets objectives and goals; breaks down work into the process steps.
    • Open to other’s ideas and willingness to try new directions and initiatives.
    • Manages transitions from task to task effectively.
    • Productive worker who exerts optimal effort in successfully completing tasks.
