  • Overview

    Karna is seeking an experienced Project Coordinator to help assist with leadership in the planning and execution of assigned projects according to deadlines and budget constraints. This includes organizing and effectively leading various project activities to execute project plans ensuring project goals and objectives are met.  The Project Coordinator will also provide administrative support to research, training and technical assistance (TA) implementation, and evaluation activities related to cross-cutting violence prevention guidance programs, strategies, and approaches at CDC.

    Responsibilities

    • Project Plan Development:
    • Works with department leadership and possibly stakeholders to document project scope, goals and deliverables including project dependencies.
    • Works with department leadership and stakeholders or may independently develop project plans including communications plan, project scope, project timeline and milestones.
    • Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments and travel arrangements for the team, TA providers, and clients
    • Works cooperatively with all project members to support the achievement of work plan activities designed to achieve identified goals and objectives
    • Project Tracking and Reporting:
    • Proactively manages, tracks, and resolves cross-project dependencies, risks, issues/conflicts, and change requests to ensure that all targets and requirements are met.
    • Drives communication with project stakeholders to effectively communicate project expectations and status in a timely and clear fashion. Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals and requirements documentation.  
    • Support tracking activities for communication, training, and TA needs and feedback for project recipients
    • Strategy and Process Improvement:
    • May participate in the strategic planning activities for the assigned area.
    • May review current systems and processes for possible improvements and implements process changes as appropriate.
    • Project Related Support:
    • Plan, coordinate, and organize site trips and logistics for project training and site visits
    • Prepare and modify documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos and emails
    • Maintain office supplies for project
    • Perform other duties as needed

    Qualifications

    • BA/BS required, preferred in Business Administration, Organization Management, or Project Management
    • Minimum 2 years related experience in project management / coordination
    • Strong organization skills required to take initiative and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a demanding environment. Consistently meet deadlines.
    • Strong oral and written communication, collaboration and relationship management skills required to effectively engage with stakeholders and deal with a diverse set of problematic circumstances that surround difficult or demanding customer situations in a friendly and constructive manner.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access).
    • Experience with health science, research and/or evaluation.
    • Expertise in independently developing written products such as study reports, briefs, and presentations.
    • Experience with government programs, particularly in a consulting environment, is highly desired
    • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate Security Clearance.
    • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently to resolve issues
