  • Overview

    Karna is seeking an experienced Website Developer to design, develop, maintain, and support web sites and web applications related to cross-cutting violence prevention guidance programs, strategies, and approaches at CDC. 


    *This part-time position is contingent upon contract award*


    • Implement and maintain components of corporate and product websites including forms, layouts, themes, and interactive user functionality.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders and business analysts during project initiation and gathering user requirements with focus on technical needs.
    • Apply problem-solving and support skills to web application environments (including client browsers, application servers, and webservers).
    • Take ownership of the solution from development through QA and deployment.
    • Promote tuning, availability and usability best-practices for websites.
    • Follow documented software development guidelines and improve it when necessary.
    • Thoughtfully provide and receive feedback during peer reviews of source code.


    • Working knowledge of responsive design concepts and designing for mobile platforms preferred.
    • Familiarity with the Windows / Apache / MySQL / PHP stack (WAMP) a plus
    • Experience with ColdFusion, .Net and J2EE is a plus.
    • Experience with one or more responsive framework preferred (Bootstrap, Foundation, 960 Grid, etc.).
    • Experience complying with Section 508 accessibility.
    • Experience working with business owners and stakeholders to develop and document business needs.
    • Experience developing complex scalable solutions to meet complex needs.
    • Experience working in a fast paced environment while effectively prioritizing multiple tasks to meet tight timelines.
    • Experience in project management, including developing project plans based on stakeholder needs.
    • Well-versed in Microsoft Office products
    • Experience designing products that are Section 508 compliant, specifically WCAG 2.0.
    • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years of experience in web development.
    • One (1) to three (3) years of experience working in major aspects of Drupal web application development and web architecture.
    • Three (3) to five (5) years web development experience (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, etc.…).
    • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate Security Clearance.
    • Ability to covert Photoshop Visual Design mockups to valid cross-browser semantic HTML and CSS markup.
    • The ability to translate technical jargon into terms that business users can understand.
