  • Overview

    Karna is working to staff an immediate opening for a Program Manager in support of CDC (Centers for Disease Control & Prevention) and Department of Defense (DoD) contracts. The qualified applicant will focus on the areas of leadership, team building, people management and development, and task order and resource allocation for multiple projects within the larger Health Science, Research, and Evaluation Portfolio. The successful candidate will support the Sr. Program Manager with operational decisions, contractual matters and business development and will conduct briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives.

    Responsibilities

    • Manages multiple projects of significant complexity, size, risk and complex interdependencies.
    • Serves as mentor and point of contact for team members for project and performance related tasks. 
    • Provides status and monthly reports regarding the tracking and presentation of project deliverables.
    • Serves as Karna’s primary point of contact to the Customer. Interacts with client and/or subcontractors to understand project requirements.
    • Utilizes previous hands-on experience to develop strategies and perform day-to-day management of research projects including:
      • Monitoring and evaluation
      • Qualitative/Quantitative data management and analysis
      • Focus groups and interviews
      • Survey development and implementation
      • Performance measures, and
      • Health communications projects.
    • Collaborates with the customer and internal/external stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction. 
    • Provides input on the preparation of task order proposals, business plans, work statements and specifications, operating budgets and other management work products.
    • Supports business operating objectives and contributes to Division business growth goals through proposal and capture activities.

    Qualifications

    • BA/BS and Master's degree in a science required. PhD in Public Health or a related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years overall experience to include:
      • Technical and Project Management
      • Direct Supervisory responsibility
      • Post-education experience as a research project team member
      • Experience leading research and public health projects 
    • Previous quantitative and qualitative analysis with tools such as SAS, SPSS, NVivo, R, ATLAS.ti.
    • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary officials and groups.
    • Ability to respond effectively to changing events and competing priorities
    • Customer account management and business development experience.
    • Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 
    • Previous CDC/Public Health experience a plus. 
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance. 
    • PMP certification a plus.
