Overview

The Communications Specialist II will contribute to and provide consultation and technical assistance to the development of corporate marketing materials and communications strategies and messages for various audiences. The Communication Specialist will develop, write and edit new and existing content for a variety of platforms and collateral materials.  The Communication Specialist will also support other corporate and proposal efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, conduct, and evaluate media and communication projects, draft marketing materials and arrange media coverage and communication of corporate messages
  • Provide written and oral communications to present information in a clear, concise, and understandable medium to various target audiences
  • Create and track the dissemination of communication and corporate materials and activities including newsletters, announcements, presentations and web content
  • Manage communication projects including research, planning and writing
  • Create a social media calendar and maintain social media accounts including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Maintain and update corporate website including content and design
  • Coordinates with representatives of the Executive department in the distribution and marketing efforts for the organization
  • Assists the Executive staff, as needed, in preparing presentations including Power Point presentations, and performing other tasks as needed
  • Assists other departments primarily in a resource role in the writing and design of internal & external communications and proposal efforts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in English, journalism, liberal art or communications
  • Four (4) years of previous experience in communications, social media and marketing
  • Experience with website management using Wordpress
  • Ability to create and revise internal and external communication plans
  • Experience with persuasive writing 
  • Experience with blogs and other channels to promote organizational thought leadership
  • Experience with plain language preferred
  • Researching and reviewing topics to assist with developing communication materials
  • Developing strong working relationships with a range of people at all levels
