Overview

The Hazmat Material Inspector will play a crucial role in a contract providing general warehousing services, maintenance and repair of containers, biomedical equipment, and civil engineering equipment (CEE), and the production of Deployable Medical Systems (DEPMEDS) at The Navy Expeditionary Medical Support Command (NEMSCOM). The primary responsibilities include overseeing the packaging, marking, labeling, and documentation preparation for all shipments in compliance with MIL-STD-129N and 49 CFR regulations for hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee packaging, marking, labeling, and documentation preparation for all shipments per MIL-STD-129N and 49 CFR for hazardous materials.
  • Ensure segregation of hazardous materials in accordance with 49 CFR and 29 CFR regulations.
  • Prepare "Shippers Certification for Hazardous Material" for hazardous materials in export shipments.
  • Responsible for the receipt, handling, storage, and transportation of designated hazardous materials, complying with local, state, and Federal regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and 5 years of experience in HAZMAT-related work environments.
  • OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification.
  • Ability to independently implement quality control procedures.
  • Proficient in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting statistical data.
  • Provide technical supervision, leadership, and training to other inspectors.
  • Identify potential problems and derive recommended solutions from past experiences.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office software, and familiarity with specialized equipment.
  • Ability to pass a NACI background investigation and acquire a CAC Card.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
